A PIANIST WITH AN EAR FOR THE AUDIENCE

Giorgio Agnès was born in 2006 in Turin, Italy and started playing the piano at the age of five. From a young age, he won several prizes in competitions in Italy, England, and Germany, as well as performing as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles in all three countries.

His notable solo achievements include a First Prize and Special Prize at the Concerto Competition of the Lunigiana International Music Festival in 2019, a Special Prize for the best performance of a Beethoven Concerto at the Cantù International Piano and Orchestra Competition in 2022, and the first prize in his age category at the Concorsi Val Tidone in 2023.

As part of a Clarinet and Piano, as well as Tenor and Piano, Duo with Konstantin Starke, he provides an innovative offering for the modern classical music scene. Konstantin and Giorgio perform programs spanning from early Romanticism to Jazz, all with a focus on engaging the audience and making classical music more accessible.

The Duo Starke-Agnès has won first prize at the national level of the Jugend Musiziert competition and become a scholarship holder with the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now association, as well as being a regular guest at the For Young Musicians Foundation in Basel.

Giorgio's musical education has taken place throughout Europe, from the private tuition of Chiara Bertoglio in Turin, to the Royal College of Music (Claudia Schurr) and the Yehudi Menuhin School (Ruth Nye) in London, where he also took lessons with Gabriele Baldocci. In Germany, Giorgio received private lessons from Antti Siirala before completing his Jungstudium at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Margarita Höhenrieder. Since September 2024, he has been studying at the Musikakademie Basel in the class of Claudio Martìnez Mehner.
